2024 PARIS OLYMPIC TAEKWONDO QUALIFICATION
Taekwondo, meaning “the way of kicking and punching,” originated in Korea during the Three-Kingdom era (c. 50 BC). It evolved from the martial art taekkyon. Over time, it became the dominant martial art in Korea, eventually gaining international popularity. World Taekwondo (WT) was founded in 1973, and that year saw the inaugural World Championships in Seoul.
This article is about how taekwondo fighters qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics. In the Olympics, there will be 128 fighters from different countries. Each country can bring up to eight fighters – one in each weight group for men and women combined.

Venue for 2024
The Grand Palais in Paris is a historic architectural marvel known for its glass roof and versatile interior. Built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, it now hosts cultural events and will feature in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
A total of 128 athletes will participate in the Paris taekwondo competition, with an equal split of 64 men and 64 women, mirroring previous editions of the Games. This inclusive count encompasses host country quotas, entitling each gender to two spots, as well as Universality places, granting two spots per gender.
Following this, the remaining 120 quota places will be apportioned to National Olympic Committees (NOCs), allowing a maximum of eight athletes per NOC (one in each weight category, up to four per gender across all categories).
Each of the eight weight categories will host a competition involving a potential 16 athletes. If additional athletes are selected for the Refugee Olympic Team, this number could potentially rise.
